Beyond Nuclear's Written Public Testimony, re: Sub. H. B. No. 6, Callender, Wilkin, Creates Ohio Clean Air Program, 4th Hearing, Opponent, for Wed., June 19 hearing

Don't Waste Michigan and Beyond Nuclear, represented by legal counsel Terry Lodge of Toledo, were two of the coalition groups that officially intervened, from 2010 to 2016, against Davis-Besse's 2017 to 2037 license extension. The other two coalition groups were the Ohio Green Party, and Citizens Environment Alliance of Southwestern Ontario. Despite the bi-national legal intervention, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) rubber-stamped the 20-year license extension, despite the risks.

For the past several years, FirstEnergy Nuclear has sought bailouts for its Ohio reactors, including both Davis-Besse and Perry. They have thus far been blocked, including by concerted grassroots environmental opposition. But this is their biggest push yet.
