During events to mark the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Yoko Shimowsawa stood in that cut with a handheld microphone and told her story. She recounted how her young daughter's ill health -- which doctors ascribed to radiation exposure from Fukushima fallout, led to her decision to move her whole family to western Japan.
