RABIDLY PRO NUKE LEGISLATION: American Nuclear Infrastructure Act

Beyond Nuclear joined 80+ groups in a letter, led by Earthjustice, to the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee. It expresses opposition to S. 4897, Title IV, Section 402, which would establish a domestic uranium reserve for bogus "national security" purposes. Ironically, the main beneficiaries of U.S. taxpayer subsidies would be two Canadian-owned uranium mining companies. We also signed a letter, with 100+ groups, led by NIRS, to the EPW, offering comprehensive critiques of the bill. NIRS has provided an action alert where individuals can contact their U.S. Senators. This lame duck rush job, pushed by industry lobbyists, unfortunately has the support of pro-nuclear Democrats, including Sheldon Whitehouse (RI) and Cory Booker (NJ).
