As reported by the Washington Post, U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), mentioned as a lead Yucca dump advocate in the Nevada Independent article above, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2020. Alexander, a very pro-nuclear power U.S. Senator (Oak Ridge nuclear lab, as well as the nuclear power utility Tennessee Valley Authority, TVA, are both HQ'd in his state), has long been chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy & Water Appropriations sub-committee, with jurisdiction over radioactive waste management.
