Human Rights

The entire nuclear fuel chain involves the release of radioactivity, contamination of the environment and damage to human health. Most often, communities of color, indigenous peoples or those of low-income are targeted to bear the brunt of these impacts, particularly the damaging health and environmental effects of uranium mining. The nuclear power industry inevitably violates human rights. While some of our human rights news can be found here, we also focus specifically on this area on out new platform, Beyond Nuclear International.

Trump vows to "cancel job-killing restrictions on the production of American energy, including shale energy and clean coal, creating many millions of high-paying jobs"

As reported by Politico's Morning Energy:

TRUMP TALKS: In a video message to the American people, President-elect Donald Trump vowed last night to "cancel job-killing restrictions on the production of American energy, including shale energy and clean coal, creating many millions of high-paying jobs." Trump also vowed to institute a policy that for every new regulation, two old ones must be eliminated.

[This of course does not bode well for water protectors resisting the final construction leg of the Dakota Access Pipeline, in which President-Elect Donald J. Trump is personally invested, to the tune of hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.]
