Video: Larry Criscione, of NRC, receives an award for "civic courage"

In 2016, the Joe A. Callaway Award for Civic Courage was presented to Lawrence Criscione, an engineer with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and Robert MacLean, an Air Marshal with the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration. Lawrence Criscione received the award for his continued efforts to address a known, significant, nuclear safety issue despite retaliation against him carried out by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of the Inspector General.

The Joe A. Callaway Award for Civic Courage is presented annually by The Shafeek Nader Trust. It was established in 1990, by Joe Callaway, to recognize individuals in any area of endeavor who, with integrity and at some personal risk, take a public stance to advance truth and justice, and who challenged prevailing conditions in pursuit of the common good.
