As reported by "The Energy 202" in the Washington Post, Energy Secretary Perry blindsided" his former friend and political ally, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, by proposing centralized interim storage for high-level radioactive waste and irradiated nuclear fuel at the former Nuclear Weapons Test Site in the Silver State.
Sandoval had already assured the Trump administration that radioactive waste burial at Yucca Mountain was a non-starter. He has ordered the State of Nevada's Attorney General, Paul Laxalt, to investigate legal ways to block Perry's latest floated scheme, as well.
