Dear Friends, On July 15, a new and exciting initiative NoFirstUse Global was launched by organizations/networks from a mix of nuclear armed, allied and non-nuclear countries. NoFirstUse Global has the objective to achieve the adoption and implementation of nuclear weapons no-first-use policies (NFU) as measures to prevent nuclear war and help achieve a nuclear weapon free world. NoFirstUse Global includes actions, events, blog articles, examples of legislative action and other resources about no-first-use policies and campaigns/actions for their achievement. One interesting section is Why No-First-Use which addresses questions and mis-conceptions about NFU. At the launch event NoFirstUse Global kicked off 'Don't even think about starting a nuclear war', a social media action that can be taken around the world, and especially in capital cities.  Don't even THINK about starting a nuclear war! 'Don't even THINK about starting a nuclear war' signs in front of the US, Russian and British embassies in Prague. Join the social media action: Take a photo of yourself and/or a colleague holding a sign ?Don?t even think about starting a nuclear war? outside the embassies or consulates of nuclear armed states ? in particular China, France, Russia, the UK and the USA to share on social media. These countries have a special responsibility to prevent nuclear war as they are the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and they are the five nuclear-armed states that are parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

It indicates that the nuclear armed states should adhere to international law prohibiting the threat and use of nuclear weapons, just as drivers should adhere to laws about parking.
