Freeze Our Fukushimas

"Freeze Our Fukushimas" is a national campaign created by Beyond Nuclear to permanently suspend the operations of the most dangerous class of reactors operating in the United States today; the 23 General Electric Mark I Boiling Water Reactors, the same flawed design as those that melted down at Fukushima-Daiichi in Japan.

Beyond Nuclear at Vermont Yankee on Solidarity with Vermont Day

Kevin Kamps unfurled the Beyond Nuclear banner at the Sat., March 24th rally at Entergy's Vermont Yankee atomic reactor near Brattleboro on the national day of solidarity with Vermont calling for the nuclear plant's shutdown. Over 80 people vigiled at the front entrance, just two days after more than 1,000 marched to Entergy's Brattleboro offices, and 168 were arrested there for non-violent civil disobedience, marking the first day of Vermont Yankee's disputed 20 year license extension.

Photos from 3/24 Vermont solidarity action at Davis-Besse atomic reactor, Oak Harbor, Ohio

Flying Pigs, Homer Simpson, Humpty Dumpty, King Kong, and Wiley the Chihuahua made encore appearances at the Davis-Besse atomic reactor to stand in solidarity with the State of Vermont in its resistance to federal tyranny preventing the closure of the Vermont Yankee atomic reactor. The event was part of a national day of action in solidarity with the people of Vermont, organized by Beyond Nuclear's "Freeze Our Fukushimas" campaign intern Kendra Ulrich of the SAGE (Safe and Green Energy) Alliance.

Note in the photo above how Homer and Humpty, "on the rocks," recreate FirstEnergy Nuclear's root cause analysis explanation for Davis-Besse's recently revealed severe, extensive cracking of the concrete containment building: the Blizzard of 1978. Anti-nuke critics have dubbed this explanation a "Snow Job of Convenience."

Defending democracy today in support of Vermont

The government and people of Vermont want Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant shut down. Reactor owner, Entergy, supported by lapdog federal regulator, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, is allowing the dangerous nuke to continue operating. Today, we call Entergy a corporate outlaw and demand it honor states' rights. Watch for updates on actions.
