Congrats and thanks to our colleagues, as well as our members and supporters, across Texas, for taking action!
June 1, 2021 Waste Control Specialists, LLC's (WCS) dangerously bad radioactive waste bill has been stopped, for now at least, in the Texas state legislature! May 31st was the last day of the legislature's session, and the bill was not passed.
However, Texas governor, Greg Abbott, has threatened to convene a special session of the legislature, in Texas Republicans' obsessive bid to pass draconian voter suppression legislation yet this year.
If that were to happen, vigilance -- and action -- may well still be required to fend off yet another attempt to pass the dangerous LLRW (so-called "Low-Level" Radioactive Waste) bill into law.
