Yucca Mountain repository plan finally dumped

After years of effort to educate and inform legislators and the White House that the proposed Yucca Mountain high-level radioactive waste repository was scientifically unsound, the Obama administration     canceled the dump. Beyond Nuclear remains vigilant, however, working to prevent other bad alternatives, like reprocessing and “parking-lot” storage, from replacing the dump. Beyond Nuclear also continues to promote hardened on-site storage at reactor sites as the least worst temporary choice for storing irradiated reactor fuel.
