DANGEROUS NUKE BILLS: Action needed at national and state levels

NIRS has provided an update on the status of S. 4897, the American Nuclear Infrastructure Act. Despite a coalition of 119 environmental, justice, and public interest organizations, including Beyond Nuclear, writing to the U.S. Senate Environment & Public Works Committee on Nov. 30th in strong opposition to the pro-nuclear legislation, it passed committee last week by a vote of 16 to 5, and can now move to the full Senate floor. NIRS also put out an action alert for people to contact their U.S. Sens. and Rep., in case there is a move to rush S. 4897 through during the lame duck session. In Ohio, action is still needed to repeal HB6, and block HB104. Please pass word to Ohioans.
