The US launch of the World Nuclear Waste Report will happen on Thursday, December 3 from 1pm-2:30pm during a free, online transatlantic discussion.

Hosted by the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Washington,DC, the event will feature presentations by Allison Macfarlane, former chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and now professor at the University of British Columbia, who wrote the report chapter on the US; and Germany-based political scientist and energy expert, Arne Jungjohann, the editor of the report.

The comprehensive report covers every aspect of nuclear waste including its costs, categories, risks and management options. The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion by Linda Pentz Gunter of Beyond Nuclear and a question and answer session with the speakers and the audience.

Due to the overwhelming response from concerned citizens and groups across the globe, GENSUIKIN is extending the comment period until January 31, 2021. Please email your comments to: gensuikin.online@gmail.com. The Japanese government is preparing to dump radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, contaminated by tritium and other radioactive materials, into the Pacific Ocean. GENSUIKIN, one of the largest anti-nuclear and peace organizations in Japan, is asking for your support to prevent this reckless decision. Please email them your comments by January 31,2021. They will submit them to the Japanese government requesting to halt the disposal.
